Hi!

Welcome to the profile of Daman YANG.

I am currently a junior undergrad student in South China University of Technology (華南理工大學 SCUT), majoring in Robotics Engineering at Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering and minoring in Law.

Currently I am having academic courses (English-Medium-Instruction) and doing research and development in Prof. Shaofeng LU’s research program on Smart Transport Lighting, participating as the person-in-charge of National Training Program of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Undergraduates. Additionally, I am also exploring the domain of HCI and Embodied Intelligence, basing on my coursework project “Vision-based Logistics Grasper Robot Vehicle” and startup project “EchoBoard: Desk-space Smart Assistant Keyboard”. My research interests lie in the domain of embedded systems, distributed computing, HCI and IoT. I am expecting more research opportunities!

Beyond my research pursuits, I am also the co-founder of a tech startup, serving Turinno Inc. and taking the responsibility of R&D especially software engineering and AI integration. We mainly focus on AIoT Smart Hardware and our first product is a smart low-profile mechanical keyboard equipped with a smart touch bar with mics which is the bridge to our AI agent assistant. It is now at the stage of EVT (Engineering Verification Test). We warmly welcome investors and founders to get in touch with us!

I regard myself as an engineer-like and PM-like Product Engineer, attentive to all aspects of building something from 0 to 1 – from marketing, business and SCM to R&D and delivery etc. – not just the technology.

AIoT Smart Keyboard & Bar Integrated with Proactive Agentic Assistant

  • A startup project which aims at building an AI + IoT hardware eco-system in desk-space.
  • Implementing a wireless low-profile mechanical keyboard with top-tier industrial design that works with Thread, a smart interactive bar equipped with a display and mic supporting voiceprint-based auto recording and smart shortcuts, and a proactive agentic assistant supporting speech analysis & summary and MCP execution such as email, notification etc. in the forms of App, Cloud, and Edge OS.
  • Technical stack: ESP32, ESP-IDF, Nordic nRF, OpenThread, Bluetooth, React Native, Node.js, Agent dev etc.
  • Software copyrights: 1 granted, 2 submitted; Patents: 2 in preparation.

Perception-based Accompanying Smart Lighting System

Mar 2025 - Present

  • Designed a Long-range Communication Topological Architecture, achieving the safe and efficient communication.
  • Implemented the vision-based vehicle detection and environment sensing to adjust the brightness automatically and achieve the accompanying lighting control, supporting remote control and data synchronization.
  • Preparing to deploy and test the system on real roads to collect more data and optimize the algorithms.

I regard myself as a product innovator with consistent and multi-faceted background – solid engineering capabilities and an integrated mindset of product, design, and business. I’ve been learning programming since 11, completely driven by my personal interest. My journey of innovation started in my Senior High. Conducting survey on campus service, developing online platform for school, founding an IT Student Association, winning 1st prize in the MoE-held national-level competition, and finishing a business at the final amount of 100K CNY, these are the most extraordinary things that I’ve done during my high school. Right after I finished the College Entrance Examination (Gaokao), I walked onto the pathway of startup and is currently studying Robotics and Law(Minor) at South China U of Tech. Here at SCUT, I’ve been improving my technical and business capabilities. I’ve participated in several academic researches and enterprise projects. Also, I attended many activities about innovation and startup, such as Canton Fair, XbotPark activities, CUHK-SZ Boot Camp, HKUST(GZ) INNOTECH etc.

I would like to describe myself that, I am born to be a startup founder, and my growth of my first 18 years are naturally guiding me to become that. I’m devoted to nothing but innovating. I believe that life is full of passion and you only live once. Looking forward to meeting with you someday!
